What Eats Pigs? What Do Pigs Eat?
Pigs are omnivores—which means they’ll eat almost anything, as most pig farmers will attest. In the wild they eat a variety of plant material including roots, shoots, and fruits, as well as any eggs they can find, and small animals such as reptiles, amphibians, and insects. They’ll eat pretty much any creature that is small enough, and too slow to escape.
Grown pigs are tough and often ferocious animals. Nonetheless, there are plenty of carnivores that will tackle them for a meal. For instance, wild dogs and wolves the world over (remember the Three Little Pigs story?), along with bears and all the large cats including Panthera leo and Panthera Tigris, are always happy to get a ham-and-pork-chop dinner.
Large, predatory reptiles such as crocs and gators, pythons, Komodo dragons, and anacondas also find pigs to be delicious.
