The genus prinias consists of small insectivorous birds
These cicstolas are occasionally referred to as wren-warblers.
About 30 species have been identified and they occur either in Africa or in Asia, where they mostly inhabit open habitats such as long grass or scrub.
They are mostly resident (non-migratory), with some movement in response to cold weather conditions.
Non-breeding birds may form small flocks.
Description
Prinias have short wings but long tapering tails. These fairly drab birds have a brown or grey upper plumage that is sometimes streaked. The plumage below is whitish.
Some species have different breeding and non-breeding plumages.
The bill is thin and slightly curved.

They mostly feed on insects.
