Darwin’s Finches
The Large Cactus-finches (Geospiza conirostris) is endemic to the Galápagos islands (Ecuador) – a group of volcanic islands distributed around the equator in the Pacific Ocean, 972 km west of continental Ecuador. They breed only on Española Island, Genovesa, Darwin Island, and Wolf Island.
They inhabit subtropical or tropical dry forests and shrubland.
Their primary food source is the cactus Opuntia.
