Siberian Grouse

The Siberian Grouse or Siberian Spruce Grouses, Falcipennis falcipennis, occurs in far eastern Russia. A small population formerly inhabited the far northeast of China, where they are now assumed to be extinct.

Description

This medium-sized grouse is very similar to the North American Spruce Grouse, to which it is closely related.

Habitat

The Siberian grouses mostly occur in forests of spruce, fir, larch, and pine.

Status
