Barnes’ Astrapia (hybrid bird of paradise) – Range: Montane forest of Papua New Guinea, on a small part of the Hagen Range and Mount Giluwe, usually at 2,400 – 2,600 m asl (Above mean sea level).

Huon Astrapia or Rothschild’s Bird of Paradise (Astrapia rothschildi) – Range: Mountain forests of Huon Peninsula, Papua New Guinea

Ribbon-tailed Astrapia also known as Shaw Mayer’s Astrapia (Astrapia mayeri) – Endemic to subalpine forests in western part of the central highlands of Papua New Guinea

Splendid Astrapia (Astrapia splendidissima) – Range: Mountain forests in western part of the central highlands of New Guinea

Stephanie’s Astrapia (Astrapia stephaniae) – Range: Papua New Guinea


Birds of Paradise (Paradisaeidae)

Blue Bird of Paradise (Paradisaea rudolphi) – Range: Endemic to Papua New Guinea. It is distributed to mountain forests of southeastern New Guinea

Emperor Bird of Paradise (Paradisaea guilielmi) – Range: Endemic to Papua New Guinea. It is distributed in hill forests of the Huon Peninsula.

Goldie’s Bird of Paradise (Paradisaea decora) – Range: Papua New Guinea

Sharpe’s Lobe-billed Parotia or Sharpe’s Lobe-billed Riflebird (Paradisaeidae / Birds of Paradise – hybrid between a Long-tailed Paradigalla and Western Parotia)

Glossy-mantled Manucodes (Manucodia ater) – Range: Widely distributed throughout the lowlands of New Guinea and nearby islands

Jobi Manucode (Manucodia jobiensis) – Range: Lowland forests of northern New Guinea
