To the best of my knowledge they are male brooders like the Seahorses they are related too.

I am trying to find out about trumpetfish in the tropical western atlantic. I get conflicting information. do the females release eggs that are then internally brooded by the male like a seahorse ? or do they broadcast spawn and the eggs are externally fertilized and then sent adrift ?
