Our suppliers of natural and lab grown diamonds, colored gemstones, and jewelry are subject to a diligent vetting process, and we go beyond industry norms by requiring our suppliers to adhere to our sourcing and compliance standards.

Supplier Onboarding Requirements

Step 1

Supplier Sourcing Model

Supplier must explain their business operations, sourcing practices, and supply chain in detail.

Supplier must demonstrate traceability of their supply chain through chain of custody invoices from Brilliant Earth-approved sources.

Step 2

Affidavit of Management Systems and
Material Tracking

Supplier must complete an Affidavit and commit to maintaining a Brilliant Earth-approved supply chain.

Step 3

Anti-Money Laundering Agreement

Supplier must provide business identification information and agree to our:

  • Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Business Transaction Compliance Agreement
  • Anti-Corruption Requirements Agreement
Step 4

Know Your Customer

We vet the supplier against constantly-updated lists of denied and sanctioned companies and individuals.

If onboarded, the supplier will be regularly checked against the same lists by our automated compliance software.

Step 5

Supplier Code of Conduct

Supplier must commit to our Supplier Code of Conduct, which covers:

  • Human rights
  • Responsible labor practices
  • Community development
  • Environmental practices
  • Business regulatory requirements
  • Supply chain integrity, traceability, and transparency
  • OECD definition of Conflict Affected High Risk Areas (CAHRAs)
  • Audit requirements
  • Compliance process
Step 6

Social Compliance Monitoring

Natural diamond, lab-grown diamond, and jewelry suppliers must provide us proof of at least one of the following:

  • Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) certification
  • DTC Best Practice Principles (BPP) Assurance Programme
  • Forevermark Management Systems Certification
  • Association of Professional Social Compliance Auditors (APSCA) Social Compliance Audit
  • Sustainability Rated Diamond (SCS-007)
Step 7

Regular Compliance Reviews

Once a supplier is onboarded, we track their peformance and adherence to our requirements through regular and random reviews specific to their product:

  • Affidavit and Anti-Money Laundering Refresh
  • Natural Diamond Traceability Review
  • Lab Diamond Traceability Review
  • Recycled Precious Metal Audit
  • Regular social compliance audits
