Distribution / Range

They are endemic to south-east China.

Description

They measure about 61 cm in length.

Recognized Subspecies

Tragopan caboti caboti – nominate race

  • Range: In the provinces of Fujian, Jiangxi, Zheijiang, and Guangdong, and

Tragopan caboti caboti

  • Range: Northeastern Guangxi and southern Hunan.

Breeding / Nesting

Tragopan chicks are said to be able to fly as soon as they hatch. (Robertson [1997] p.14)
